Heronsbridge in Abbotsford Wedding - Layne & Richard

Surrounded by rustic charm in a romantic country-side setting, Layne and Richard were married at Heronsbridge, in Abbotsford, BC. It was a gorgeous late summer’s day, highlighting the breathtaking features of the venue. Complete with wide sloping lawns, lush gardens, a gazebo, and a picturesque wooden bridge where I captured the bride and groom’s first look. Layne wore an off the shoulder dress, with the combination of a lace neckline, chiffon silhouette and chapel train showcasing a country-chic elegance.

The bride and groom were supported by a fun-loving group that made up the wedding party. I had no trouble capturing the many smiles, hugs, and laughs among them as they prepared for the ceremony. The bridal party procession was led by a traditional Scottish bagpiper. As part of Layne and Richard’s vision of their special day, the ceremony was unplugged; no cellphones permitted outside. I could see the pure love, adoration, and devotion in the eyes of the bride and groom as they made their vows. Everyone was fully immersed in this ceremony, as guests looked on with admiration and joy. In fairy-tale-like fashion, Layne and Richard exited together down the rose petaled path as husband and wife among dancing bubbles of “good wishes” from their guests.

The wedding reception followed at the vintage-style venue of Fort Langley City Hall. Keeping with a romantic country aesthetic, the venue resembles a large farmhouse with dramatic pillars that posed as an excellent background for additional formal shots of the wedding party. Guests enjoyed a rustic chicken dinner underneath dreamy string lights and star shaped décor. Toasts were made, including a warm and heartfelt speech made by Layne’s mother. The beaming bride and groom shared their first dance, leading their guests to join in many more dances as everyone let the good times roll. It was a fun filled evening including the humorous “Wedding Shoe Game” as the newlyweds tested their knowledge of each other, a Q&A game for prizes, as well as garter and bouquet tosses.

This day was simply perfect and it was a pleasure to capture the magical moments of Layne and Richard’s wedding day. Cheers to a happily ever after!
